Coleman’s 20 Career Receiving Touchdowns Finished Tied for All-Time Lead at Rutgers Scarlet Knights

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (May 13, 2014 10:19 AM) – Rutgers redshirt junior wide receiver Brandon Coleman (Accokeek, Md.) was signed as a free agent by the New Orleans Saints, the organization announced.

Coleman is the third Scarlet Knight to sign a NFL free agent contract joining Quron Pratt (Philadelphia) and Marcus Thompson (Miami).

In 39 career games and 27 starts at wide receiver, Coleman totaled 94 career receptions for 1,808 yards. He averaged 19.2 yards per reception in his career.

The Maryland native finished his collegiate career tied for first in school history with 20 touchdown receptions. He started all 13 games as a redshirt junior and took home the Paul Robeson Award at the team banquet, given to the individual whose performance, leadership and dedication on and off the field during his career has had the greatest impact on Rutgers football.

He had three of the 10 longest receptions in school history (92, 86, 85). In 2012, he was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection after totaling 43 receptions for 718 yards and 10 touchdowns. The 10 touchdown receptions tied a school single-season record.

Coleman is a two-time conference all-academic team selection and is one semester away from earning his degree.
